THE PLASTIC IN THE GARDEN     Installation

Role:  Fabrication, Conceptual Design, Scripting

The Plastic in the Garden is an exercise in digital fabrication that uses an interactive tensioned cable structure to visualize the site as a set of axis. The stair tower and ground plane are treated as X and Y axis, in which the maximum variation of enclosure is represented by lines (cables) based on Durer’s theory on Conch line geometry. A component system of hanging scoops was designed to skin the cable structure . The scoops, hanging in equilibrium, collect precipitation and natural materials, which deposit into the garden. The resulting design is a delicate skin — the movement of its parts is in constant flux according to the presence of wind, rain, and snow
